TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Taoyuan Airport MRT is looking for the 200 millionth passenger to award prizes valuing nearly NT$20,000 (US$610) after reaching the milestone on Monday.

The lucky rider entered A8 Chang Gung Memorial Hospital Station at 12:49 p.m. and exited at A14a Airport Hotel Station, Taoyuan Metro said. Their ticket serial number was 1113425000323957. The passenger will receive a 12-month TPASS and a special gift bag. 

Additionally, the five passengers before and after the 200 millionth passenger will each receive a two-month TPASS, gift bag, and one-day pass for Taoyuan Metro’s "Happy Peach" AI-equipped train.

The Taoyuan City Government hosted events and opened new facilities along the Taoyuan MRT line to boost local tourism, which also helped ridership.

The Taoyuan Metro said the TPASS commuter pass encouraged northern Taiwan residents to visit Taoyuan on weekends. It also said new smart services such as multilingual translation and AI-powered customer service improved rider experience. 

Taoyuan Metro called on passengers to check their tickets to see if they were the lucky winners.
