TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taoyuan International Airport Terminal 2 received a four-star rating from Skytrax, CNA reported on Tuesday.
Skytrax, founded in 1989 and based in the UK, is an international air transport rating organization. It provides quality audits, ratings, and certifications to airlines and airports worldwide.
Skytrax said the airport's Terminal 2 provides passengers with an efficient and secure immigration process and a smooth transfer experience. The terminal's cleanliness and maintenance were also highly praised.
The airport offers many transportation options to Taipei, Skytrax said. Terminal 2 also features a modern interior.
Transit passengers at the airport can access the free gym, shower facilities, and relaxation areas, according to the organization. It also cited the airport's diverse selection of restaurants and shops, offering local specialties, duty-free items, and luxury goods.
The terminal staff's attitude and language skills received four stars, while wayfinding signs, information counter service, toilet availability, baggage delivery times, and baby changing room comfort earned five stars. However, its fast-track security and fast-track immigration services received only two stars.
The airport’s Terminal 3 is under construction and expected to open in the second half of 2027. Skytrax hopes the new facility will also receive high marks.
The airport marked its 46th anniversary of operations Wednesday and served more than 860 million passengers as of last year. It was also ranked the world's 66th-best airport by Skytrax that year.
