TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The National Science and Technology Council approved eight investment projects in Taiwan's science parks on Wednesday.
The council held a review meeting Wednesday, announcing a total investment of NT$3.34 billion (US$109.5 million). Of these, five projects involve capital increases, amounting to NT$980 million, per CNA.
According to the council, seven of the investment projects are public. The companies involved in these investments include Atomic Precision Company, Ruide Systems Company, Taiwan Polygas Technologies Company, Wonder Advanced Materials Company, Hotek Materials Company, Trust Bio-sonics, and Future 3D.
Trust Bio-sonics will invest NT$600 million, the largest amount among the projects, to establish operations in Hsinchu Biomedical Science Park. According to the council, the company's main product is an ultrasound contrast agent, which aids in improving the accuracy of diagnoses for cancer and cardiovascular diseases.
Taiwan Polygas Technologies Company, the second-largest investor, will invest NT$500 million to establish operations in the Tongluo Science Park. The company specializes in developing specialty gases and chemicals for semiconductors, solar, biotechnology, petrochemicals, and healthcare sectors.
Hotek Materials Company will invest NT$100 million, focusing on electrode and electromagnetic shielding materials. Wonder Advanced Materials Company will invest NT$70 million, specializing in the R&D and manufacturing of polishing and cleaning agents for semiconductor wafer processes.
The InvesTaiwan Service Center said the government's "three key investment programs" have attracted 1,664 companies, with investments exceeding NT$2.5 trillion and creating more than 160,000 jobs.
The center approved investment projects from six companies Friday. The largest investment is from Radiant Opto-Electronics, amounting to NT$13.3 billion. The company is set to build research and development centers and semiconductor cleanrooms in Kaohsiung’s Qianzhen District and at the Zhunan Science Park.
