TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The Tourism Administration said Thursday it wanted to attract more Thai tourists to south Taiwan by featuring popular sights on Bangkok mass transit trains.
The trains and two stations will show scenes from Chiayi, Tainan, Kaohsiung, and Pingtung in the south, and Taitung and Hualien in the east, per CNA. The promotional materials are on view at Chatuchak Park underground MRT station in February and March, and on the elevated Skytrain or BTS trains from February to April.
Sala Daeng BTS Station will host the campaign in April and May, and the MRT trains from May to July. The Tourism Administration said it had commissioned photographer Kankavee Karnjanadecha and graffiti artist Benzilla to create the promotional material.
The themes include the catchphrase “Taiwan – Waves of Wonder,” the four seasons, food, scenery, bicycles, Indigenous villages, and railways. According to the administration, Thai visitors are interested in cherry blossoms, hot springs, the Alishan tourist train, and Western-style buildings from the Japanese colonial era.
In addition, a Thai team from National Geographic is recording content in Taiwan this week for shows to be broadcast in Thailand from April to June.
