TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Hotel searches for Taiwan by Indian, Indonesian, and Filipino travelers nearly doubled in January.
On Thursday, the travel site Agoda announced that searches for accommodations by Indian and Filipino travelers increased by nearly 40% over the same period last year, per CNA. Agoda attributes this to the Taiwan Tourism Administration’s efforts in establishing tourism service offices in those countries last year.
Agoda said Taiwan's appeal to travelers from the Philippines, Indonesia, and India continues to grow. From the historic mountain town of Jiufen to picturesque Sun Moon Lake, and Taipei 101, the site said Taiwan offers something for everyone.
Agoda said the Taiwan Tourism Administration’s promotional efforts in key Asian markets and the establishment of tourism offices in Manila, Jakarta, and Mumbai, have further increased Taiwan’s exposure.
The travel agency said Taiwan’s geographical location, visa-free policies, and deep cultural ties make it an ideal travel destination for Filipino tourists. It pointed out that Indonesian travelers can enjoy Taiwan’s increasingly Muslim-friendly facilities, including halal-certified restaurants.
Agoda said that Indian interest in Taiwan continues to rise. Taiwan is not only a filming location for several Bollywood movies, but it also offers rich adventure tourism experiences, and a vegetarian-friendly environment.
Compared to the same period last year, the top five Asian markets most interested in Taiwan in January were Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan, the Philippines, and Thailand.
