TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area won a third prize Green Destinations Story Award for business and marketing at the ITB travel fair in Berlin, reports said Wednesday.
The scenic area invited local businesses and volunteers to discuss how to promote environmentally friendly tourism, per CNA. The debates resulted in low-carbon itineraries and trips with less garbage, and experiments on the best forms of commercialization.
It was the third year in a row that the scenic area in landlocked Nantou County has received a mention as one of the Top 100 Green Destinations Stories, according to the Tourism Administration.
In the awards’ Culture and Tradition section, the Yilan Park of the National Center for Traditional Arts won third prize for its Orange Turtle Sharing Ceremony. Bamboo is woven into the shape of a turtle and filled with oranges to pray for good luck in the coming year.
