TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Taiwan opened its pavilion at Foodex Japan 2025 in Tokyo on Tuesday under the brand name “Taiwan Select.”
With 193 businesses operating 196 stalls, Taiwan will be the second largest exhibiting country at the March 11-14 event, per CNA. The Ministry of Economic Affairs expects the pavilion at the largest food fair in Asia to attract more than 5,000 buyers.
The “Taiwan Select” campaign is the work of the ministry, 14 city and county governments, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council, and 11 professional associations from Taiwan’s food sector. The new products on offer corresponded to the tastes of Japanese consumers and reflected the diversity and specific local tastes from Taiwan.
The Taiwanese food will highlight quality, safety, health, and sustainability at the fair, according to the Ministry of Economic Affairs. There are also plans to promote the “Taiwan Select” brand in the US, Australia, and Singapore by joining forces with local distribution networks and setting up overseas food processing plants.
According to official statistics, Taiwan exported US$640 million (NT$21.08 billion) worth of food products to Japan in 2024, making up 13.2% of food exports. Japan was the third largest market for Taiwanese food exports, while Japan was Taiwan’s fourth largest food supplier.
