TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport Terminal 2 experienced a sudden power outage at noon on Wednesday, disrupting numerous check-in counters, baggage handling, and immigration.
Taoyuan International Airport Corporation said the outage affected passenger operations. It occurred at 12:05 p.m. with back-up power activated at 12:13 p.m. and full power restored at 1:13 p.m., per CNA.
A few check-in counters and baggage areas were able to operate on backup power, with airlines quickly adjusting operations. Still, some passengers said check-in was only completed after full power was restored, with many hoping the outage would not delay flights or otherwise affect their itinerary.

Non-essential areas within Terminal 2, such as dining facilities, flight information boards, and duty-free shopping areas, continued to go dark until full power was restored. TIAC said that during power outages, manual passenger check-in and customs clearance security operations are possible.
It added the airport's runway navigation lights, air bridge operations, and tarmac aircraft guidance systems were all normal. Flight takeoffs and landings were not affected.
TIAC apologized for the inconvenience caused to passengers. An investigation into the cause of the incident is underway.
