TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Foxconn Technology plans to sign an agreement with an EV client in Japan within two months, Chair Young Liu (劉揚偉) said Friday.
He did not mention any names, but said the agreement covered contract design and manufacturing services, per CNA. In February, Foxconn expressed interest in cooperating with Nissan before the latter’s merger talks with Honda broke down.
During an online investors’ conference Friday, Liu also revealed the contract electronics maker’s other plans for the automotive sector in 2025. The certification of an electric bus factory in Kaohsiung will be completed in the third quarter of the year.
Mass production of the Model B electric car will start up halfway 2025, while the Model C EV will be manufactured in North American during the fourth quarter, Liu said.
An EV battery factory in Kaohsiung was coming online in the first quarter. In addition, Foxconn was cooperating with a vehicle company in the Middle East on EV software, according to Liu.
