TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — National Sun Yat-sen University held a job fair on Saturday, featuring 115 companies with over 10,000 job openings.
The event attracted over 4,900 attendees, CNA reported. The tech sector is offering the highest compensation, with semiconductor industry salaries reaching up to NT$2.2 million (US$68,200) per year.
Major tech companies, including TSMC, ASE Technology Holding Co., Foxconn, Compal Electronics, and Pegatron, attended the fair, organizers said. TSMC's planned factories in Taiwan and the US are expected to boost demand for supply chain vendors and talent in wafer manufacturing, equipment maintenance, research and development, and business management.
The rapid development of cloud data processing, electric vehicles, and wireless communication is driving demand for high-performance semiconductor components. Organizers expect related companies to continue large-scale hiring.
E.SUN Financial Holding Co., Cathay United Bank, Chailease Holding Company, and Fubon Life Insurance Co. were among the financial companies participating in the job fair. Management associate positions in the financial sector offer annual salaries up to NT$1 million for master's degree graduates.
Financial firms are expanding hiring beyond management, seeking talent in cybersecurity, AI, big data analytics, and sustainable finance. Some offer training programs with cross-departmental and international opportunities.
Uni-President, PX Mart, Decathlon, and Mos Burger were among the retail service companies present. As consumer expectations for service and immersive shopping experiences rise, these companies will focus on hiring for brand management, member acquisition, and smart store management.
The Kaohsiung City Government's Training and Employment Center and the Ministry of Labor's Youth Salon also offered job consultation services at the event.
The college established a career counseling center to aid international students' post-graduation employment in Taiwan. It will partner with businesses to offer Mandarin courses, career seminars, internships, and company visits.
