TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – A campaign to promote Taiwan in Thailand has got underway with colorful pictures on mass rapid trains and at stations in Bangkok, reports said Saturday.
The Tourism Administration recruited Thai photographer Kankavee Karnjanadecha and graffiti artist Parinya Sirisinsuk, known as Benzilla, to express their views of Taiwan through their art, per CNA. Kankavee focused on picturing the four seasons in scenes from south Taiwan, while Benzilla imagined how aliens would view the country.
Benzilla said he visited Taiwan three times last year to absorb the local food, art, and culture. Taipei’s Ximending area was his favorite location because of its links to graffiti culture, though he was now launching into toy design. Taipei was one of the world’s major toy makers, he said.
In Thailand, Kankavee often takes pictures of buildings, so when he visited Taiwan he wanted to look for colorful temples and museums. The Tourism Administration asked him to shoot scenes of natural beauty in south and east Taiwan, where he named Taitung as his favorite region.
The promotional campaign will be on view at Chatuchak Park underground mass rapid transit station in February and March, and on the elevated Skytrain network from February to April. Sala Daeng Station will host the campaign in April and May, and the underground trains from May to July.
