TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s US representative Alexander Ta-Ray Yui (俞大㵢) on Saturday urged Taiwanese business leaders to continue supporting the nation's diplomacy to ensure visibility on the global stage.
Speaking at the World Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce 31st board of directors and supervisors meeting, Yui thanked the global Taiwanese business community for their collaboration in advancing Taiwan’s international public diplomacy, according to the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office.
He emphasized the importance of the Taiwan-US partnership for the nation's future industrial development and appreciated “rock-solid” support from the US. The two countries can cooperate in AI, defense, and drone development, Yui said.
Both sides can also work to advance double taxation avoidance legislation and negotiations under the US-Taiwan Initiative on 21st Century Trade, Yui said, per CNA.
Approximately 650 Taiwanese business people gathered in Houston for the WTCC meeting. US Congressman Al Green, Texas Secretary of State Jane Nelson, and American Institute in Taiwan Managing Director Ingrid Larson also attended the event, TECRO said.
