TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Ministry of Finance has issued a warning about phishing emails impersonating its electronic invoice platform.
These scam emails falsely claim issues such as account problems or request user information updates. They are designed to trick recipients into clicking links that lead to fake websites designed to steal personal data, per CTEE.
Entering sensitive information, such as credit card details on these sites could result in financial fraud. The ministry pointed out government websites end in “.gov.tw” and urged vigilance when receiving suspicious communications.
It further clarified that it never sends emails asking for credit card information. It advised the public to avoid clicking on unknown links and refrain from entering personal information.
If an email appears to be from the finance ministry’s electronic invoice platform, recipients should verify the sender’s email address and the website link. The ministry email is “[email protected]” while its invoice platform's website is “https://www.einvoice.nat.gov.tw”.
For verification, individuals can call the 165 Anti-Fraud Hotline. The public can also call the invoice service platforms customer service hotline at 0800-521-988.
