TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Marine Corps 99th Brigade recently conducted a base security drill simulating the approach of an unidentified drone near military premises.
Troops were strategically deployed around the base and coordinated their response, Liberty Times reported. Anti-drone personnel used standard-issued weapons and drone jamming guns to cover each other while guarding the facility and executing security procedures. The exercise was designed to strengthen the unit’s emergency response capabilities.
The military has begun distributing drone jamming guns across its units. Earlier this year, the Army’s 542nd Brigade incorporated the jamming devices into their spring patrol drills, using them to block enemy reconnaissance drones and aerial threats, according to the report.
However, the military noted that large-scale counter-drone operations will still require a more comprehensive drone defense system.
The Navy said it has already deployed 43 jamming guns across 37 key facilities, including ports and other critical infrastructure. Zuoying Naval Base is equipped with permanent jamming systems and protected by frequent patrols and other layered security measures, forming a multi-tiered defense network against drone intrusions.
