TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Ministry of Education (MOE) has selected 40 university students for two scholarship programs in the Czech Republic.
On Thursday, the MOE announced that 25 students had been approved for a short-term study and research scholarship, while 15 others qualified for a Slavic language summer camp scholarship.
Recipients of the short-term study and research scholarship who hold a master’s degree or equivalent qualification will receive a monthly stipend of 13,000 Czech korunas (NT$18,710). Their studies are set to begin in September or October and will last either five or 10 months. Those without a master’s or equivalent will receive 12,000 korunas per month.
The summer camp scholarship covers accommodation, tuition, and activity costs. Camps begin between July and August and last three to four weeks.
Funded by the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports, the scholarships are administered by Taiwan’s MOE, which manages the selection process.
The MOE said the programs aim to foster academic and cultural exchanges between Taiwan and the Czech Republic. It added that the Czech Republic's rich historical and cultural heritage and high level of internationalization make it a welcoming destination for international students.
