TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan Mobile announced Thursday it has partnered with Nuwa Robotics to launch a robot waiter as part of its “Open Possible” AI-focused bundle.
The robot is designed for service tasks including dish delivery and refills, per CNA. Its features can be fully customized—voice interaction, navigation, and speed—making it suitable not only for restaurants but also for healthcare settings.
Instead of a high upfront investment, the robot is offered via a rental model with prices starting at NT$8,000 (US$243) per month, per UDN. This makes it more affordable than imported models that typically exceed NT$300,000.
Taiwan Mobile said its most popular option among small and medium enterprises (SMEs) is the “Easy Front-of-House Plan,” starting at just NT$1,486 per month. When combined with the smart robot, order-taking and food delivery can be automated for under NT$10,000 per month.
Taiwan Mobile Vice President of SME Business Lin Te-wei (林德偉) said the bundle provides modular services that businesses can scale based on needs, with expert guidance from Taiwan Mobile. By working with a domestic AI startup, Taiwan Mobile aims to help companies address staffing and operational challenges.
Citing data from Precedence Research, Lin noted the global service robot market is projected to grow from NT$1.79 trillion in 2024 to over NT$6.9 trillion by 2034. As AI and automation evolve, interactive service robots will play a key role in operational upgrades, especially in regions with severe labor shortages, he added.
Nuwa Robotics COO Chang Chih-chieh (張智傑) said digital transformation will not replace workers but rather will enhance human value. Nuwa Robotics and Taiwan Mobile share this vision, enabling businesses to deliver efficient services, Chang added.
