TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — New Taipei Mayor Hou Yu-ih (侯友宜) led a delegation of city councilors to Tokyo on Friday.
The group departed Songshan airport in the morning and arrived at Haneda Airport around noon. The delegation will tour several sites in Japan’s capital to learn about public venues, reported CNA.
On Friday afternoon, the group visited the Santa Fe Garden Hills, a state-of-the-art care facility for the elderly operated by the Zenkoukai Corporation. Hou said the facility offers an excellent model for incorporating AI and cutting-edge technology into healthcare programs for the elderly, reported LTN.
Hou will also visit the Tokyo Dome and Seibu Dome to gain a better understanding of large construction projects. New Taipei is evaluating locations for a new sports dome that will have a seating capacity of 50,000 people.
The delegation will tour the Azubudai Hills residential area as a model for urban renewal projects. The group will also inspect the Tsukiji Fish Market, which is being relocated, as a reference for the new market area planned in Luzhou District.
In addition, the group will make a stop at Nezu Museum, which showcases a large collection of pre-modern East Asian art. Hou said the visit will be instructive as the New Taipei City Art Museum is set to hold its opening later this month.
The delegation will return to Taiwan on April 15, according to a press release.
