TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜) welcomed the New Zealand parliamentary delegation to Taiwan on Wednesday.
Han said the delegation’s visit reflects the Legislative Yuan’s strong bipartisan support and respect for New Zealand, according to the Legislative Yuan. He praised New Zealand scenery and culture and mentioned Taiwan’s love for New Zealand products like milk and kiwi fruits.
He recalled that exchanges with the previous New Zealand delegation visit in April last year showcased the close ties between the two countries.
One of the delegation leaders, MP Stuart Smith, said the group members were from various political parties but shared a common stance on international affairs. He hoped their visit would deepen bilateral friendship, enhance official and people-to-people exchanges, and boost trade relations.
The other co-leader, MP Tangi Utikere, said the delegation met with government agencies and visited the Atayal tribe in Wulai, which he believed would help enhance mutual understanding and Indigenous affairs cooperation. Utikere said he looked forward to in-depth exchanges with Taiwanese legislators on shared values.
