TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Kaohsiung's healthcare was ranked first in the world in Numbeo's survey of cities.
Under the online database's Health Care Index by City 2025, Kaohsiung scored 88.6 out of 100. Taipei was close behind at 86.7, followed by Makati, Chiang Mai, Seoul, Rotterdam, The Hague, Utrecht, Madrid, and Valencia, rounding out the top 10.
In the Health Care Exp Index, Kaohsiung also took the top spot at 163.6, followed by Taipei at 159.4. The third through 10th spots remained the same as the overall Health Care Index.
Of the eight components of health care surveyed, Kaohsiung received a “Very High” satisfaction score. The highest score was a 92.93 for “Satisfaction with cost to you,” with “Convenience of location for you” and “Equipment for modern diagnosis and treatment” also receiving scores over 90 at 92.39 and 90.76, respectively
Kaohsiung received scores in the high 80s for “Skill and competency of medical staff,” (88.89), “Accuracy and completeness in filling out reports,” (88.04), “Friendliness and courtesy of the staff,” (87.50), and “Speed in completing examinations and reports," (87.22). Kaohsiung's lowest score was 81.11 for “Satisfaction with responsiveness in medical institutions.”
Its Health Care Index category is a rating of the "overall quality of the healthcare system, including factors such as healthcare professionals, equipment, staff, doctors, and costs." The Health Care Exp Index emphasizes the positive aspects of a healthcare system more significantly "through an exponential increase while also emphasizing the native aspects more significantly.”
