TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – EVA Air said Tuesday it will start operating direct flights to Dallas, Texas in October.
Three flights per week will link Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport with the fourth-largest metropolitan area in the US from Oct. 3, per CNA. EVA will become the only Asian airline servicing two destinations in Texas, Houston and Dallas.
The Taiwanese company operates 90 flights per week between Taiwan and North America, with Dallas as the ninth destination in the region. EVA is no stranger to the city, as it started operating cargo flights in 1998, according to President Clay Sun (孫嘉明).
The main reason for adding passenger flights is that many corporations have moved into the area. Dallas also provided an opportunity for transit flights to other parts of North America and Latin America.
Sun pointed out that Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport was the third busiest airport in the world.
EVA will put the Boeing 777-300ER on the route, with flights arriving in Taoyuan early in the morning. The scheduling allows passengers to find a connecting flight to Northeast or Southeast Asia, Sun said.
