TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Uni-President Enterprises Corporation Chair Alex Lo (羅智先) said Monday that its 7-Eleven stores in Taiwan reached 7,110 last year.
President Chain Store Corp. reported record-high revenue and net profit last year, reaching NT$337.9 billion (US$10.5 billion) and NT$13.7 billion, respectively. The company's 7-Eleven chain operated 13,125 stores worldwide as of last year, per CNA.
Last year, the company launched four new-format 7-Eleven stores in Tainan and Kaohsiung, featuring large retail spaces that combine dining services with fresh food offerings. 7-Eleven holds nearly 52% of Taiwan’s convenience store market and has more than 18 million Open Point members.
Lo said the company entered the Shanghai market in 2009 and acquired the operating rights for 7-Eleven in China’s Zhejiang Province in 2017. It operates more than 500 7-Eleven stores in the country.
Additionally, the company operates 4,130 stores in the Philippines, holding more than 80% of the local convenience store market. With the country’s youthful population of over 100 million, the company plans to invest NT$2.8 billion to open an additional 450 7-Eleven stores there this year.
To cater to Filipinos' affinity for fast food, the company introduced 7-Eleven's CQSR format, combining CVS (convenience stores) and QSR (quick service restaurants). It also installed ATMs in nearly 3,500 of its Philippine stores, serving more than 14 million customers monthly.
Lo added that the company has invested in Taiwan Yamato International Logistics and Yahoo Taiwan’s e-commerce business, aiming to expand its e-commerce customer base as well as its logistics and warehousing operations. Its logistics center in Tainan is scheduled to begin operations in the first half of this year, with seven logistics firms set to move in.
Meanwhile, the company's logistics park at Taichung Port is expected to be completed next year. The park will include refrigerated and standard temperature logistics centers, a gas station, and a shopping complex.
