TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The McDonald's breakfast sensation, McGriddles, made from two maple-flavored griddle cakes filled with an egg and bacon or sausage, made a return to local restaurants at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
On the first day, long queues appeared outside McDonald's locations across Taiwan, with some reports of customers waiting overnight for the chance to try the breakfast item. McGriddles will be available during daily breakfast service, which runs from 5 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. while supplies last, per CNA.
McGriddles gained fame at McDonald's locations in Japan and were introduced to Taiwan on a limited-time basis last year. The arrival of the new item triggered a buying frenzy, with one branch selling out in just three days last year.

Many believe McDonald's will similarly do brisk business with McGriddles, though it has tripled the amount of stock, with 2.3 million servings distributed to restaurants across Taiwan. Flavors include sausage, sausage and egg, and ham and egg.
One resident, surnamed Chang (張), said he had tried the McGriddle while in Japan but wanted to sample the Taiwanese version. He hopes to try the item before it sells out like last year.
For a citizen surnamed Chen (陳), she hopes that McGriddles can become a regular menu item, so there would be no need to wait in long lines.
