TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – National Taiwan University has won the Times Higher Education award for its “Outstanding Support for Students,” reports said Thursday.
The Taipei-based college won the prize the first time it has participated in the Times Higher Education Asia Universities Summit, in Macau, per CNA. The university defeated seven rivals for the award.
The winning program, dubbed “Illuminating, Navigating, Transforming,” helps students find a direction in their studies. The university’s study planning office, experts, and bachelor's degree holders provided advice to the students.
The award introduced the innovative spirit at National Taiwan University and in Taiwan’s academic circles to a global audience, said Vice President for Academic Affairs Wang Hung-jen (王泓仁). The program received praise for its ability to put students and their needs first, while allowing for flexibility in the choice of courses.
Wang added the university had published six booklets to share its experience with other colleges, hoping it will result in more dialogue and cooperation to innovate Taiwan higher education.
