TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — HTC launched on Thursday an immersive extended reality (XR) therapy program for seniors in the US.
Partnering with AT&T, Mynd Immersive, and Select Rehabilitation, the initiative will introduce advanced digital therapies to more than 150 senior care facilities and communities, benefiting over 45,000 older adults, per CNA.
The program will use the MyndXR platform, powered by the lightweight HTC Vive XR Elite headset, to deliver augmented and virtual reality experiences. These therapies are designed for comfort and rehabilitation.
Deployment and training are moving quickly, with Mynd Immersive onboarding 25 new communities each week. The effort marks the largest rollout of XR therapies in US senior care history, setting a new standard for evidence-based, immersive treatment, per UDN.
Select Rehabilitation, the nation’s largest contract therapy provider, said more than 20,000 therapists will use the technology to improve mobility, cognitive engagement, and daily living skills for residents.
HTC Chair Wang Hsueh-hung (王雪紅) noted that the world’s population over 65 is projected to surpass 1.6 billion by 2050. She added that the partnership aims to merge technology and humanity, delivering tangible benefits to senior citizens.
