TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The defense ministry’s Bo’ai military compound in Taipei carried out a base security drill Saturday, simulating the forced entry of an unauthorized intruder.
Military police and soldiers responded swiftly, following emergency procedures to strengthen contingency response capabilities, Military News Agency reported.
Lieutenant General Sun Li-fang (孫立方), director of the ministry’s political affairs office, observed the drill, which was part of routine weekend training. He emphasized the importance of vigilance against enemy threats and realistic exercises, adding that technology enhances surveillance and monitoring capabilities.
These measures help units improve situational response and command coordination while ensuring personnel are familiar with emergency protocols.
The battalion commander, surnamed Ting (丁), said the exercise tested troops’ ability to rapidly assess and respond to unexpected situations. Only through consistent, rigorous training, he said, can the base build a strong defense against infiltration and sabotage.
