TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Star Wars Day was celebrated on Sunday, with fans in Taiwan joining the global tribute to the iconic film franchise on May 4, a date chosen for its pun on the phrase “May the Force be with you.”
Fans dressed as their favorite characters took part in a 3.5-kilometer run around New Taipei Metropolitan Park, with costumes including Jedi Knights, Princess Leia, and Imperial Stormtroopers, per CNA.

The race was the first of four Star Wars Run events scheduled in Taiwan this year, with upcoming runs set for Hsinchu (May 11), Kaohsiung (May 18), and Taichung (May 25).
A day earlier, a Star Wars-themed event was held at Heart Village (中心新村) in Taipei’s Beitou District. Large crowds of fans and cosplayers, many wielding colorful lightsabers, gathered to celebrate the franchise. The event included photo opportunities and interactive activities for participants of all ages.
