TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Minister of Foreign Affairs Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) returned to Taiwan after a three-day visit to Texas, where he promoted closer ties with the US in technology, trade, and diplomacy.
Lin met with key political and business leaders and announced plans to develop a “Taiwan Tower” in downtown Houston, per the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA). He said the tower would be “well-suited” to house Taiwan’s representative office in Houston and could attract Taiwanese firms to establish their US headquarters there.
During his visit, Lin also addressed the Texas House of Representatives and presided over the passage of a pro-Taiwan resolution alongside American Institute in Taiwan Managing Director Ingrid Larson.
On the final day of his trip, Lin attended the "Taiwan–Texas AI Innovation Summit" at the Texas State Capitol, where he thanked US partners for their support of Taiwan’s tech industry. He said the event underscored strong bilateral cooperation in AI, semiconductors, robotics, and energy.
Lin later oversaw the signing of the "Taiwan–Texas Economic Cooperation Agreement," which aims to promote two-way investment between the two sides.
MOFA called the trip a “complete success” and said it would continue advancing President Lai Ching-te’s (賴清德) “Roadmap for Deepening Taiwan–US Economic and Trade Relations.”
