TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan National Normal University (NTNU) welcomed Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al Nuaimi and youth ambassadors from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for an educational symposium in Taipei last week.
Al Nuaimi attended the NTNU forum on “Talent Cultivation for Sustainable Transformation” on May 6 to promote exchanges and cooperation in education between Taiwan and the UAE, per CNA. The visitors toured the NTNU campus and enjoyed performances by students from the university's music department.
NTNU President Wu Cheng-chih (吳正己) welcomed the sheikh and 11 youth representatives to Taiwan for the event. He thanked the UAE for supporting educational exchange programs with Taiwanese universities and expressed hope for expanded opportunities for students in the future.
Abdul Aziz Al Nuaimi is the nephew of the ruler of Ajman, one of the seven emirates comprising the UAE. He is known as the “Green Sheikh” for his environmental advocacy and serves as an environmental advisor to both the Ajman government and the UAE, according to Al Shindagah.
During the visit, students and faculty from NTNU, National Taiwan University, and National Taiwan University of Science and Technology discussed sustainable development and opportunities for future collaboration. In recent years, students from these universities have traveled to partner schools in the UAE for cultural and educational exchanges, per CNA.
Al Nuaimi said he is committed to improving education for young people and hopes Taiwan and the UAE will work together to offer more scholarships and exchange opportunities.
