TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Marshall Islands Minister of Justice, Immigration, and Labor Wisely Zackhras arrived in Taiwan on Monday to sign a criminal justice cooperation agreement and hold talks with Taiwanese officials.
The Treaty on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters between the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the Government of the Republic of the Marshall Islands aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation in criminal justice, according to the Taiwan foreign ministry. Taiwan Minister of Justice Cheng Ming-chien (鄭銘謙) will sign the agreement alongside Zackhras.
During his five-day visit, Zackhras will attend a luncheon hosted by Minister of Foreign Affairs Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍). He will also stop at Taiwan’s National Police Agency, National Immigration Agency, and Investigation Bureau under the Ministry of Justice to hold discussions.
The Marshallese government has long been a steadfast supporter of Taiwan’s international participation, the foreign ministry said. The two countries cooperate in many areas, including climate change, agriculture and fisheries, and clean energy, reflecting a deep and friendly bilateral relationship, it added.
