TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s Sky Bow IV missile system is expected to enter full-scale production next year, according to a military source.
Under the "Strong Bow Project," the Sky Bow IV has passed operational evaluations and small-scale production verification, and will be included in the fiscal year 2026 national defense budget, Liberty Times reported.
The National Chung Shan Institute of Science and Technology has developed two extended-range variants. The first is an anti-ballistic missile with a target interception altitude of 70 kilometers.
The second variant has two types. One can reach interception altitudes of 100 kilometers, comparable to the US Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system, per Liberty Times. The other is rumored to be a new surface-to-surface ballistic missile, with an estimated range of up to 1,000 kilometers.
Taiwan plans to shut down its Sky Bow III missile production line next year after investing NT$27.4 billion (US$906.87 million) in the system.
