TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The US strongly supports Taiwan’s efforts to restrict the export of semiconductor technology, the American Institute in Taiwan said Friday.
The policy served the interests of both the US and Taiwan, and protected advanced technology, US Deputy Envoy Jeremy Cornforth told a forum, per CNA. He added the measures not only prevented the misuse of the technology, but also enhanced global and regional security.
Cornforth was speaking at a supply chain forum in Taipei organized by the Industry Technology Research Institute. The event featured speakers from several representative offices in Taiwan, including Japan, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and the EU.
Cornforth emphasized the close partnership between the US and Taiwan had led to the success of the semiconductor industry. He hoped even more technological advances and resilient supply chains would result to the benefit of both countries and their allies.
