TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport expects 687,000 travelers to pass through during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday period, reports said Friday.
Taoyuan International Airport Corporation estimated the peak for departures would fall on May 29, the day before the official start of the three-day holiday, per CNA. Most arrivals were expected on June 1.
The airport operator advised outbound travelers to arrive at least three hours before their flight to avoid complications. They should also use smartphones and online check-in procedures as much as possible to save time.
A meeting with airlines, ground services, ground transportation, retail, customs, immigration, quarantine, and security had discussed measures to respond to the surge in traffic. During peak times, e-Gates would operate at their full capacity, the company said.
The airport operator reminded travelers that the Taoyuan Airport Mass Rapid Transit trains start operating out of Taipei Main Station from 5:30 a.m. each day.
