TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Foxconn Chair Young Liu (劉揚偉) on Thursday laid out a bold vision to push into AI smart factories, robotics, and space as the company’s next growth frontiers.
Speaking at the firm’s annual shareholders’ meeting, Liu also reaffirmed Foxconn’s goal of becoming one of the world’s top three contract design and manufacturing service providers, per CNA. He announced the launch of a new robotics manufacturing platform and plans to build low Earth orbit satellites.
According to Liu, Foxconn produces one out of every two information and communications technology or ICT devices globally, driven by robust research, vertical integration, and automation. The company rolls out more than 800 ICT products each year across 233 sites in 24 countries, employing up to 900,000 workers at peak.
In AI, Foxconn is working with Nvidia in Taiwan to develop AI factories and supercomputing hubs. With over 40% global server market share, Foxconn expects AI server revenue to exceed NT$1 trillion (US$33.37 billion) this year, cementing its place in the global AI supply chain, per UDN.
As countries move to build sovereign AI capabilities, Liu said Foxconn is laying the groundwork for AI data center ecosystems in several countries. ICT and AI now make up its two main business pillars, with EVs forming the third.
On EVs, Liu said the company has developed nine prototypes and is promoting them globally through its contract design and manufacturing service model. A recent partnership with Mitsubishi Motors highlights this push, offering designs for new EV projects.
In semiconductors, Foxconn is building a silicon carbide supply chain targeting EV applications and expanding into chiplets, integrated AI systems, and microcontrollers for tier-1 automotive clients.
