TAICHUNG (Taiwan News) – Ron, the celebrated bar group known for its harmonious blend of music, art, and exceptional beverages, announces the launch of its latest venture, Ron Island, in Taichung.
Building on the success of its Taipei and Tainan establishments, Ron Island introduces a "dream pop" concept, transforming an old building into a uniquely inviting space designed to feel like a second home in the heart of the city.
Ron's journey began in 2013, driven by a passion for creating dining and drinking spaces that resonate with music and art. From its initial two-story old house in Shilin to Ron Xinyi's independent music scene and Taiwanese-inspired cocktails, and the multi-faceted Ron & Company in Tainan, the brand has consistently delivered unique experiences.
The brand continues this legacy, infusing Taichung’s central district – a historic commercial hub – with its signature ambiance.
Inspired by the Soho House aesthetic and blended with local charm, Ron Island’s design centers around an eye-catching, subtly glowing island-shaped bar.
The high-ceilinged, spacious interior offers various seating zones, from cozy sofas to intimate tables, perfect for any occasion. The space is adorned with nostalgic elements like cameras, vinyl records, and antique radios, fostering a relaxed, home-like atmosphere.
At the restaurant, music remains a core value. The venue boasts a high-fidelity JBL sound system, offering an immersive auditory experience.
DJs spin tracks every Friday and Saturday from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m., with special themed events like the recent Mandarin golden hits night, ensuring a vibrant and soulful atmosphere.
The beverage program is spearheaded by Kao Yung-pei (高永霈), the 2024 World Class Taiwan champion, ensuring every guest enjoys a championship-level cocktail.
Signature drinks include the light and creamy cloud colada, a deconstructed pina colada; the smoky and sweet Thai good beer; the nostalgic tropical soy milk, a dessert-like rum-based concoction; and the unique Taichung maria, a savory vodka cocktail featuring local Dongcyuan chili sauce and basil.
Complementing the drinks, a selection of popular bar bites awaits. Do not miss the Dongcyuan spicy fried chicken, tender chicken coated in Taichung's iconic chili sauce, or the fragrant Sichuan spicy zhajiangmian, featuring chewy noodles with a rich mala sauce.
