TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Anonymous on Monday hacked into two Russian websites and posted Taiwan flags in solidarity with Ukraine's major drone attack on Russian bombers.
An Anonymous representative who goes by the Reddit handle "HaileeSteinfeldFan" told Taiwan News the collective had hacked into three pages (page 1, page 2, page 3) of a municipal website in Volgograd. These pages contain redirect XSS scripts leading to a page they posted on Minin University's website.
The hacktivists said the defacement was in response to Operation Spider's Web, which took place on Sunday and involved 117 Ukrainian drones concealed in cargo trucks, per the New York Times. The unwitting drivers parked the trucks near airfields in five regions before the drones were remotely launched and struck as many as 41 Russian strategic bombers.
The background of the page has been changed to blue and yellow, the colors of the Ukrainian flag. The defacement starts with the Anonymous logo, the Taiwan flag, and the lyrics to the song “Spider-Man.”
Next are six embedded YouTube videos showing trailers for films from Sony's Spider-Man Universe. A seventh video plays a BBC report on the Ukrainian assault, including footage of drones launching and Russian bombers ablaze.
The collective then outlines a peace proposal to end the Russo-Ukrainian War by holding a referendum in occupied Ukrainian territories, asking whether they would accept a UN peacekeeping force. If they agreed to the first referendum, a second one would be held, giving Ukrainians the option to choose to remain in Ukraine, remain in Ukraine but devolve certain powers, become independent, or join Russia.
They suggested that if people in those regions chose independence, they could join a "neutral grouping" of countries, "hitched between NATO and Russia" that would include Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Moldova. This "neutral security belt" could serve as an alliance similar to NATO or the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the group argues.
The hacktivists conclude by listing 30 proposed goals for a “Democratic Project 2029.” Examples include amendments to the US Constitution that remove presidential immunity, bar presidential self-pardons, prohibit convicted criminals from holding office, and impose tenure limits on Supreme Court justices.
