TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Central Weather Administration on Wednesday issued a heavy rain alert for central, southern, and eastern Taiwan.
These regions are expected to experience brief periods of heavy rainfall on Wednesday, while northern Taiwan may see occasional showers, per CNA. Strong gusts are possible in parts of Penghu and New Taipei. There is also a risk of lightning strikes in central, southern, and southeastern regions.
The weather front is forecast to affect Taiwan through the weekend. From Friday to Sunday, brief and scattered showers are likely along the central and southern coastal areas overnight and in the early morning. Rain is also possible across the nation in the afternoon.
Temperatures on Wednesday will range from 21 C to 25 C in the north and from 24 C to 28 C in central and southern regions. On Thursday, temperatures are expected to rise slightly, reaching 22 C to 31 C in the north and 24 C to 33 C in the central and southern areas.
From Friday to Sunday, temperatures are forecast to range between 24 C and 35 C in the north. Central and southern regions will see temperatures between 24 C and 34 C.
On Monday, scattered afternoon showers are possible in western Taiwan. The administration also forecast that a tropical weather system could form over the Pacific next week, and advised the public to stay alert in case it develops into a typhoon.
From Wednesday to Friday, air quality is expected to be good in central, southern, and eastern Taiwan, while conditions in the north, Kinmen, and Matsu will be moderate.
