TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Changhua County Government unveiled “Guashan Cabin,” a forest-themed children’s playground at the Baguashan Forest Recreation Area, on Sunday.
Magistrate Wang Huei-mei (王惠美) said the playground’s construction cost approximately NT$3.64 million (US$112,000), with NT$3.09 million subsidized by the National Land Management Agency (NLMA), per CNA.
Designed to fit the natural terrain, the facility features slides, a small treehouse, climbing cages, themed seats and an inclusive play area that Wang said feels like a “secret base” for children.
The playground incorporates ecological education elements to inspire teamwork among children and promote parent-child interaction and social skills, Wang added.
The NLMA provided subsidies totaling NT$177.8 million over the past two years, and the county council contributed about NT$46 million to improve 56 parks across the county.
The county government plans to create a distinctive park in each township, including Dolphin Park in Shengang Township, Highway Garden in Tianwei Township and Tomorrow Park in Yuanlin Township.
Dolphin Park covers 2.7 hectares with a marine theme and features a large ship-themed slide, climbing nets, a ship-shaped play structure, trampolines, seesaws, and a designated area for pets.
Tomorrow Park includes a 9.6-meter-high slide, a sand play area, a fire truck–themed structure, climbing frames, and a zipline.
The Baguashan Forest Recreation Area renovation project won the top accolade in last year’s NLMA Urban-Rural Charm Awards.
