TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — UNI Air will buy 19 ATR 72-600 aircraft from French-Italian manufacturer ATR, with delivery scheduled between 2027 and 2032, per CNA.
The deal, valued at US$437 million (NT$13.09 billion), also includes an option for three additional planes.
The purchase is intended to renovate the UNI Air fleet and meet growing domestic travel demand. The airline, owned by the Evergreen Group which also controls EVA Air, previously focused on domestic routes before expanding into the regional market.
The new ATR 72-600s, equipped with Pratt & Whitney PW127XT-M engines, will offer higher fuel efficiency and lower environmental impact. UNI Air added that repair expenses are expected to drop by about 20 percent and passengers will benefit from cleaner cabin air thanks to high-efficiency particulate air filters.
