TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – National Taiwan University surged to No.14 on the list of sustainability impact in the Times Higher Education, reports said Wednesday.
The change amounted to a jump of 41 places from last year’s list and to the school’s highest-ever position, the Liberty Times reported. The rankings were based on the universities’ progress toward the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The top 100 also included National Cheng Kung University at No. 31, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University at No. 41, and National Yunlin University of Science and Technology at No. 77.
National Taiwan University’s positive ranking reflected its efforts in improving teaching, research, and social responsibility, NYU President Chen Wen-chang (陳文章) said. He added that the college hoped to produce a positive impact on society, the country, and the world at large.
Australia’s Western Sydney University received the best ranking in the world for its sustainability, followed by the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom, and Kyungpook University in South Korea.
