TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Fifty tourists were rescued on a Taichung mountain after a five-hour wait caused by a landslide on Friday, per CNA.
The landslide occurred at the entrance slope of Basianshan National Forest. A total of about 30 cars and 100 people, including park staff and others, were trapped inside the park.
The individuals were safe and sheltered at the visitor center, where they were given drinks and snacks. The Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency sent personnel and heavy machinery for emergency repairs.
The park was closed and will remain so until the road is repaired. The trapped tourists were rescued when the road was reopened at around 7:05 p.m.
