TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Wistron, a leading Taiwanese original equipment manufacturer (OEM), held a grand opening ceremony for its Global Operations Headquarters at Zhubei AI Park on Thursday.
The new facility marks Wistron’s most significant investment in 25 years and drew top executives from across Taiwan’s IT sector. Wistron President Jeff Lin (林建勳) said the site will become the company’s largest AI server production base, with current capacity nearly fully booked by orders from Nvidia, per CNA.
Lin told reporters that production capacity is expected to grow rapidly, as the company is in talks with Lan Fa Textile to rent a nearby factory. Wistron hopes to reorganize and begin production there next year.
According to Lin, Wistron continues AI server production in Hukou and Hsinchu, while the new Zhubei facility is focused on next-generation models. In the US, Wistron is expanding its service center in Texas, which employs 1,000 people. Recruitment is underway to begin mass production of AI servers there by next year.
Lin said demand for AI servers will remain strong through the rest of the year and is expected to continue through May. He added that Wistron aims to expand its AI server plants to a total of 10, depending on order volume and global deployment strategy.
Regarding Wistron’s personal computer business, Lin noted that exchange rates are affecting operating costs, while tariffs pose an even greater challenge to sales.
Looking ahead, Lin said Wistron is committed to developing more AI applications to unlock new economic opportunities for Taiwan’s IT sector. He said AI will drive innovation across all industries over the next two decades, creating opportunities for Taiwanese companies throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
