TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — An electrical power outage in Taoyuan’s Luzhu District affected over 3,000 households on Sunday.
An estimated 3,012 homes suddenly lost power at 3:38 p.m. due to a poorly secured fuse at the local power supply station, which was blown by an upsurge in electrical output, reported CNA. The Taiwan Power Company immediately dispatched personnel to repair the damaged fuse.
The Taiwan Power Company was able to restore power to all households by 6:10 p.m., per reports. Most of the homes affected were located around Zhongshan Rd., Liufu Rd. and Wufu No. 6 Rd.
The Taoyuan office of the Taiwan Power Company apologized for the incident. They pledged to strengthen line inspections and ensure proper maintenance to avoid similar events in the future.
Taiwan typically suffers occasional power outages during the summer months due to increased demand for indoor air conditioning.
Taipower is currently working to upgrade substations across Taiwan to improve the resiliency and efficiency of Taiwan’s power grid. The project is expected to be completed by December 2027.
