TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Billboards featuring Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen (盧秀燕) and TPP Chair Huang Kuo-chang (黃國昌) appeared across Taichung on Thursday.
Also pictured on the billboards are KMT Legislators Liao Wei-hsiang (廖偉翔), Huang Chien-hao (黃健豪), and Lo Ting-wei (羅廷瑋), per Tai Sounds. Taichung KMT Deputy Chair Chang Shu-hua (張書華) emphasized the importance of opposition unity, calling the recall effort a “political assault” from the ruling DPP.
Huang Chien-hao said Taiwan’s most pressing issue is the economic uncertainty caused by changing international dynamics, per UP Media. He argued that public patience is waning due to what he sees as the DPP’s focus on political maneuvering at the expense of economic priorities.
Liao echoed those concerns, adding that voters are weary of the division and instability sparked by repeated recall efforts. Lo called on the opposition to come together to defend Taiwan’s democracy and economic future.
Lu and Huang Kuo-chang are expected to appear together at an anti-recall rally in Taichung on July 12, per NOWNews.
After becoming TPP chair, Huang Kuo-chang made his first official visit to Lu, where he said “anything that concerns Taichung is the TPP’s business”, per CNA.
