TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A group of eight lawmakers from Lithuania arrived in Taiwan on Sunday to discuss trade, regional security, and Taiwan’s domestic political environment.
Representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the Lithuanian delegation upon arrival at the airport. The cross-party delegation is led by Ruslanas Baranovas, who chairs the Lithuania-Taiwan Parliamentary Friendship Group, per a MOFA press release.
The delegation also includes Giedrimas Jeglinskas, the chair of the Lithuanian Parliament’s Committee on National Security and Defence, and Matas Maldeikis, the vice chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs.
During their visit, the group will meet with Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴), Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍), and Defense Minister Wellington Koo (顧立雄). The National Security Council and MOFA will also host the delegation for banquets and discussions on bilateral cooperation.
MOFA expressed a warm welcome to the Lithuanian lawmakers. Taiwan and Lithuania share mutual values and are committed to strengthening their partnership and enhancing mutual exchange in areas of trade and technology. The lawmakers will remain in Taiwan until July 11, per the press release.
