TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Ministry of the Interior on Friday released an English guide with instructions on steps to take when an air raid alarm is issued.
In preparation for the 2025 Urban Resilience Exercise from July 15 to 18, the ministry published an infographic outlining air raid shelter guidelines. It aims to help foreign residents quickly understand emergency procedures and make timely decisions during an alert.
The National Police Agency has instructed local governments to strengthen outreach to foreign nationals ahead of the drill. The government will also promote preparedness through social media, official websites, multilingual materials, and community channels.
The goal is to enhance societal resilience while creating a safer and more inclusive environment for international residents. The infographic was developed based on international best practices, using clear visuals and simple language to explain sheltering principles in different scenarios.
Examples include staying away from exterior walls and windows when indoors, and quickly entering the nearest building when outdoors. If in a vehicle, one should enter the nearest building if possible, or lower the body below window level if not.
The interior ministry stressed that every second counts during an air raid alert. Knowing nearby shelter locations and understanding the protocols in advance can help protect individuals and their families.
The following is a video with English subtitles that provides instructions on air defense evacuation:
