TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) on Saturday praised Taiwan-Paraguay cooperation as a model for the world at a joint press conference with his Paraguay counterpart Ruben Ramirez Lezcano.
Collaborative projects like the Taiwan–Paraguay Smart Technology Park, Taiwan–Paraguay Technological University, and an electric bus pilot program, showcase Taiwan’s progress from value-based diplomacy toward value-added diplomacy, Lin said in a Facebook post.
Lin pointed out that this year marks the 68th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Taiwan and Paraguay. This milestone is an opportunity to enhance bilateral ties and look to the future, he said. The foreign minister said he invited 31 Taiwanese business leaders from various sectors to join his delegation to strengthen economic collaboration and realize a vision of mutual benefit and shared prosperity.
Ramirez emphasized that the strong Taiwan–Paraguay partnership is rooted in shared values. Though the path has not always been easy, Paraguay stands firm in its beliefs and will continue to deepen ties with Taiwan, he said.
He also thanked Taiwan’s support in healthcare, housing construction, and urban transportation, which has greatly benefited Paraguayans. Taiwan is now a key market for Paraguayan livestock products, and the two countries have achieved impressive results across multiple sectors, he said.
Ramirez looked forward to deeper cooperation to create a brighter future together.
Both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to continued collaboration and pledged to work together to improve the well-being of their peoples as steadfast allies. The ministers later co-hosted a reception celebrating the 68th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
