TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — After a nearly 20-year hiatus, six-time Grammy-winning hip-hop and electronic group the Black Eyed Peas will return to Taiwan for a concert at the Taoyuan Sunlight Arena on Nov. 22.
Celebrating their 30th anniversary this year, the Black Eyed Peas are embarking on a new Asia tour with stops in Jakarta, Bangkok, Manila, Singapore, and Taoyuan, per CNA. They also revealed that a new project is in the works for later this year.
Speaking via UDN FunLife, Taboo said the past three decades have been a blessed musical journey. He said he felt fortunate to still be touring, traveling, and creating music after 30 years.
The group last performed in Taiwan in 2006 at Taipei Zhongshan Soccer Stadium. During their visit, the group plans to explore Taiwan’s food scene and revisit local boutiques.
Taboo, who has his own footwear line, said he is especially eager to revisit Taiwan’s sneaker stores, which he fondly remembers from the group’s last trip. He also hopes to find some collectibles and comics during his stay.
Known for iconic club hits like “Boom Boom Pow,” “I Gotta Feeling,” and “Pump It,” the Black Eyed Peas’ recent albums “Translation" and "Elevation” have sparked wide acclaim. Their upcoming performance will feature a greatest-hits set from their 30-year career and include Filipina-American vocalist J. Rey Soul.
Tickets go on sale at noon on July 29 via UDN Ticketing and KKTIX.
