TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) lauded the close cooperation between Taiwan and Paraguay during a meeting with Paraguay President Santiago Pena on Monday.
Joint projects such as the Taiwan-Paraguay University of Technology, Taiwan-Paraguay Smart Technology Park, and the Electric Bus Pilot Project, demonstrate Taiwan’s commitment to helping Paraguay advance its tech industry and digital transformation, Lin said, per the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Future initiatives include sovereign AI, a clean 5G network, and a Health Information System 2.0, he added.
Lin pointed out that his accompanying business delegation comprises representatives from key tech and manufacturing sectors. Some of these companies have already committed to investing and setting up operations in the Taiwan-Paraguay Smart Technology Park, he said.
Pena reaffirmed that the Taiwan-Paraguay diplomatic relationship is rock solid. He said that Taiwan and Paraguay have enjoyed long-standing and fruitful cooperation.
Lin’s visit comes ahead of President Lai Ching-te’s (賴清德) arrival next month.
