TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Taipei is poised to become a vibrant nexus of contemporary art in the fall as Art Taipei and an extensively expanded Taipei Art Week converge.
Organized by the Taiwan Art Gallery Association, Art Taipei will grace the Taipei World Trade Center Hall 1 from Oct. 24 to 27, with exclusive VIP previews on Oct. 23 and 24. This year's overarching theme, "intersect: diversity equals togetherness," reflects Taiwan's inclusive art landscape and its forward-thinking engagement.
Art Taipei will draw 128 galleries from six countries and regions. A significant commitment to nurturing local talent is evident, with 72 Taiwanese galleries participating, showcasing their work on an international platform.
The fair will also host a stellar lineup of international galleries, including De Sarthe, Perrotin, and Scai the Bathhouse. Their presence will foster deeper engagement within the local arts community and with visiting international audiences, further solidifying Taiwan's position as a vital hub for global art exchange.
Running from Oct. 18 to Nov. 2, Taipei Art Week makes a strong return, significantly expanding upon its successful inaugural edition. This year, it will encompass eight major exhibition zones and eight thematic projects, transforming the entire city into a dynamic cultural canvas.
Collaborating with over 70 galleries, museums, art institutions, and artist studios, Taipei Art Week will reach into every corner of the metropolis, driving participation from both local residents and international visitors.
A major highlight of the art week is its International Forum, which will convene leading figures from three globally significant art institutions. Attendees will include Alexandra Munroe, senior curator at Large, Global Arts, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and Foundation; Pi Li, head of Art at Tai Kwun Contemporary; and Emily Pethick, director of the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten.
Furthermore, Taipei Art Week will facilitate a Tri-Regional Collector Exchange through "The Collector Circle" program, bringing together international guest groups and fostering collaboration among a new generation of collectors from East Asia, Southeast Asia, and beyond.
Taipei Art Week will also debut its art bus city tours. These themed routes will connect the public with key cultural venues across the city through curated designs, transforming urban exploration into a cross-disciplinary journey of contemporary expression that integrates art into daily life.
