TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — This summer, the Grand Hyatt Taipei’s Cafe is diving into seafood as part of the hotel’s 35th anniversary “Dine Around” campaign, presenting a seasonal menu of bold regional flavors and fresh ingredients.
Known for its extensive buffet, Cafe has updated its offerings with dishes meant to capture the spirit of the season. Notable selections include spiced white wine shrimp infused with Spanish wine, thyme, and lemon; Sichuan-style shrimp with a spicy kick; and a Taiwanese sauerkraut and abalone soup that blends local tradition with a modern twist.
Since the 2015 renovation introduced a “store-in-store” layout, Cafe has been organized into themed stations such as Chinese, seafood, vegetarian, and dessert. The restaurant serves buffet-style meals for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner, with a la carte stir-fry dishes available at the Chinese station.
The seafood station offers a broad range of choices, including daily arrivals of crab, fresh shrimp, mussels, sea conch, and clams. While seafood has long been a buffet staple, several dishes have been refreshed or upgraded for the summer season.

Taiwan’s unique geography and climate, influenced by seasonal ocean currents, ensure a rich variety of seafood throughout the year. In summer, the southwest monsoon and warm currents from the South China Sea affect the types of fish, shrimp, crabs, and shellfish available around the country, according to Food For Season.
The Cafe's summer menu is part of the larger “Dine Around” campaign, which runs through Aug. 18. Guests who spend NT$3,000 (US$102) or more in a single transaction at any of the nine participating restaurants receive a stamp.
Collecting multiple stamps earns access to tiered rewards, ranging from signature dishes and spa treatments to complimentary stays in luxury rooms. The highest reward is a pass granting 35 visits to the Cafe’s buffet.
Participating restaurants include Cafe, Irodori, Bel Air, Cha Lounge, Yun Jin, Ziga Zaga, Pearl Liang, Cheers, and Baguette. The hotel said it hopes guests will appreciate the care put into each dish and find something they enjoy at every station.
